Privacy Policy

This website

This website is hosted on Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes connection information, such as your IP address and request metadata, to deliver and protect the site. We do not add analytics scripts, advertising trackers, cookies or browser-storage identifiers. There is no sign-up form. Following a store, email or other external link takes you to a service with its own privacy practices. If you email support, the information you choose to include is used to respond to your request. Please do not send confidential work material or recordings.

Cloudflare’s privacy policy

Workplace Japanese ("the app") is operated by ThinksView ("we"). This policy explains what the app and its online service do with information. Contact: smile@thinksview.com.

The short version

1. Information that stays on your device

Your practice attempts, progress, review schedule, saved expressions, settings, reminder time and consent receipts are stored locally on your iPhone or iPad. Microphone recordings are kept in temporary storage on the device for replay and removed when the app next starts. Transcripts of your speech are produced on the device. Practice reminders are scheduled by iOS on your device and contain no text you wrote or said. If you use Export learning data, the file is created by you and goes only where you choose to save or share it.

2. AI feedback (optional)

AI feedback is off until you read the in-app disclosure and agree. When you ask for feedback on a reply:

AI feedback can be wrong. It is labelled as AI-generated and is not a language certification.

3. Anonymous service identity

AI feedback needs to count usage without an account. When you first turn it on, the app creates a key with Apple's App Attest service, which proves the request comes from a genuine copy of the app. We store an identifier of that key as your anonymous service identity and issue a signed session token that the app keeps in the iOS Keychain. It is not linked to your name, Apple ID or email address, and it is not used for tracking.

4. Purchases

Payments are handled entirely by Apple; we never receive card or payment details. To give subscribers their AI allowance, the app sends us the App Store's signed transaction information (such as transaction identifiers, product, purchase and expiry dates). Apple also notifies our server when a subscription renews, expires, is refunded or is revoked, so access follows the real subscription. Purchases made with Apple test (Sandbox) accounts are kept in a separate ledger.

5. Security and abuse prevention

Cloudflare processes your IP address and request metadata to deliver and protect the service. To limit abuse we count requests per address in short windows of up to ten minutes, using a keyed one-way hash of the address rather than the address itself; each counter is overwritten when its window ends.

6. Legal bases

Where laws such as the GDPR apply: AI feedback, and the transfer of your reply to DeepSeek in China, rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Purchase verification and allowance counting are necessary to provide the subscription you asked for. Abuse prevention and billing records rely on our legitimate interest in a secure, fairly metered service and on legal obligations.

7. International transfers

Our service runs on Cloudflare's global network, and AI feedback is processed by DeepSeek in the People's Republic of China, which may not offer the same level of data protection as your country. By turning on AI feedback you agree to this transfer. If you do not agree, keep AI feedback off — every lesson works without it.

8. How long information is kept

InformationKept
On-device learning dataUntil you delete it in Settings or delete the app
AI feedback resultUp to 24 hours
Usage ledger (no reply text)For as long as the service identity or subscription exists, for billing integrity and abuse prevention
Consent receiptsUntil you delete cloud service data
Purchase verification and subscription statusFor the life of the subscription and as required for refunds and accounting
Rate-limit countersAt most ten minutes
Data held by DeepSeekAs described in DeepSeek's privacy policy

9. Your choices and rights

10. Children

The app is designed for adults preparing for or working in Japanese workplaces. It is not directed to children under 16, and children under 16 should not turn on AI feedback.

11. Changes

We will update the version above when this policy changes. If a change affects AI feedback or who processes your data, the app asks for your agreement again before sending anything.
